The past week in our classroom was a blast! We had a big week in all subject areas.
In writing we began practicing "The Hand Plan." The scholars learned a poem that helps them plan their story. Each finger represents a different part of the story for which they plan. I was thrilled with the scholars' success using the Hand Plan. They planned excellent stories. Their writing keeps getting better and better.
In reading, we had several scholars move one step closer to their individual reading goals. Each scholar is working really hard to apply the various reading strategies we have learned throughout the year.
In science, we have been exploring magnets. The scholars did a wonderful job of identifying various magnetic and nonmagnetic objects around the classroom. They were successful in explaining why each object was magnetic or not. At the end of the week we were able to use a fun STEM lab to explore the properties of magnets.

Finally, to end the excitement of the week, we celebrated the 100th day of kindergarten. Scholars were split into five different groups with the rest of the grade level. They rotated from room to room to complete a special 100th day activity. Scholars made 100 day hats, completed 100 piece puzzles, made a necklace of 100 fruit loops, completed a BreakoutEDU, and created a portrait of themselves when they are 100 years old. It was a fun day!
I'm look forward to another great week!
