We had such a wonderful first week of 2017! I cannot believe the scholars are now over halfway done with kindergarten! I enoyed hearing about their breaks, but more importantly, I was thrilled to have them back in my class.
We hit the ground running this week. We focused on enhancing our writing skills and retelling stories (parents check your scholars seesaw site for their video). Scholars did a wonderful job of retelling various stories we read throughout the week.
In science, we looked at winter weather. While planning for winter weather, I found it to be a daunting task since Grapevine, TX isn't necessarily the best example of winter weather. However, we were in for quite the treat Friday afternoon. We spent most of the day gazing out the window hoping that the tiny flurries would pick up in size. Fortunately, in the last hour of the day, our dreams came true. The ground was (mostly) white. Naturally, we bundled up and headed outside for some play time in the snow. We were able to discuss what snow was and why it was sticking on the ground. It was a wonderful afternoon of authentic learning!
